Rebranding: Shop Apotheke goes Redcare
My Role: Design System Lead
Client: Redcare Pharmacy / Shop Apotheke
Shop Apotheke Europe (now known as Redcare Pharmacy) is one of the leading online pharmacies in Europe, offering both over-the-counter (OTC) and, in some markets, prescription medicines, along with health, beauty, and wellness products. The company operates in multiple markets, including Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
As Design System Lead, I collaborated with the external agency MVST to deliver:
New website designs for six countries, optimized for both desktop and mobile viewports.
A new structure for the Web Design System and its components.
In cooperation with the App UX Lead, the design of the App Design System.
New visual styles for illustrations and icons, coordinating the work of the UX Illustrator.
A/B tests to determine the best adaptation of the new brand guidelines.
New color and font libraries.
Onboarding sessions for the whole design team (around 15 people) and freelancers.
New guidelines on how to use the colors, visual assets, and design system components.
After updating the look and feel, we achieved a remarkable sales growth rate of 49% and reached a record 11 million active customers.
I reworked over 80 design components to align them with the Redcare design style and to prepare for the company’s rebranding, ensuring the new identity was presented in the best possible way across digital platforms.
I introduced more than 20 unique design components and layouts that embody the new Redcare style.
I coordinated the work of the Illustrator to recreate over 150 visual assets, including diverse icons and illustrations.
This project was a collaboration between the Redcare Pharmacy internal UX team, the design agency MVST, and our freelance illustrator.
